Therapies
Therapies are tools; the pattern sets the direction. Here is how each works, where it is used and what to watch for.
Acupuncture
Fine, single-use sterile needles are placed at chosen points to influence the flow of Qi and Blood along the meridians. For women’s health, timing is often planned around the cycle.
Herbal medicine
A formula is written from the four examinations and adjusted as you change. It may be concentrated granules or traditional decoction.
Moxibustion
Burning mugwort warms chosen points. In Chinese medicine it is used to warm the channels and move Qi and Blood, often where cold signs are prominent.
Cupping
Suction cups draw up the skin. Chinese medicine uses them to free the channels and ease muscular tension, usually on the back and shoulders.
Gua sha
A smooth tool is stroked along the meridians. Body gua sha eases tightness; facial gua sha is much lighter and focuses on circulation and relaxation.
