Chinese Medicine- Period Blood

Chinese Medicine Period Blood

Your period blood is like a monthly “health report.”

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM),
the color and texture give us clues about your Qi, Blood, and overall balance.

🔴 Normal Period Blood

* Color: Fresh, bright red

* Texture: Smooth, not too thick or too watery

🌸 If it goes to the extremes, it might mean…

* Pale red → Qi, Blood, or Yang deficiency

* Purple-red / brown → Qi & Blood stagnation, or excess heat

* Purple-black → Cold causing blood to be blocked

* Thick, sticky → Heat or dampness

* Thin, watery → Cold or Qi/Blood deficiency

* With clots → Blocked flow from cold, heat, or stagnation

⚠️ Important: These are common reasons, but not the only ones.
 Period health can have many different root causes.

💡 Menstrual color & texture are not a standalone diagnosis.

They should always be considered together with other signs
(pulse, tongue, cycle length, smell, symptoms).

🌙 Always consult a licensed TCM practitioner to find the root cause and restore balance
— especially if you suspect an infection.
